    A little something about Me...

I was born in Scotland, in my favourite season: Autumn. I grew up in a small country village, and spent a lot of my childhood outside, exploring. I’ve loved stories about adventure and magic and other worlds since I was little, and I’ve been making up my own tales for as long as I can remember.
After my first year of high school, my family and I moved from Scotland to Perth, Australia. As you can imagine the transition from a rainy, rural town, to a sunny, beach-side suburb was like something out of one of the stories I used to make up. The culture and way of life was vastly different to what I was used to (all the school corridors were outside!) but change is an adventure. It was an exciting new start.
I’ve always loved music, always loved making up melodies and putting words to them. Making clever rhymes is particularly satisfying! It was after I moved to Perth that I got serious about singing and songwriting. For about four years that was my focus. It took me to Los Angeles when I was nineteen, where I worked with two different producers. It was during my six month stay that things, again, changed.
It was difficult and scary, yet amazing and empowering all at the same time! My own Awakening. I didn’t discover portals, or realms, (or Christian!!), but I did discover who I Am. I learnt a lot about souls, and about knowing, accepting, loving and being honest with myself. And if I was being honest, then embarking on a career as a performer was not my true passion. When I let myself entertain that thought, the book concept came to me.
I’d written a lot of songs, and come up with many concepts for story lines before then, but none of them were more effortless and none excited me more than the concept for The Portal Opener Trilogy. It was the 9th of September, 2008, about 2pm. I was sitting out in the Californian sunshine, when I wrote the entire outline from the beginning of book one to the end of book three. White paper, pink pen. I still have those initial pieces of paper.
The next day I drove north to Pismo Beach, to do a course about spiritual development. After feeling stifled in LA, Pismo was a breath of fresh air. In room 206 I began writing The Portal Opener. I finished the first draft only nine weeks later.
Since returning to Australia at the end of Oct ’08, I have continued to discover and learn more about my new passions. Book one has received many edits, but I am entirely happy with the finished result! Books two is well under way, I hope to complete it in 2011.
Exactly one year after the concept of The Portal Opener was thought up, I self-published it here in Perth. What an incredible feeling of coming full circle! It’s a great sense of completion to have gone from a few paragraphs in the outline, to a full 270 page book in just one year! I’m still shocked to see my words on the pages, but I am thrilled to be able to share Freya’s story with you!
Thank you for visiting my site. Peace. ❤❤❤
